Virtual presentations are here to stay

Enabled by technology and platforms such as Skype for Business, teleconference presentations are now an integral part of the workplace. This development has been driven by a number of factors. One factor is the rise in virtual teams – people who work closely together independent of their geography and who need to plan, communicate and coordinate their projects independent of their physical location. Another factor is undoubtedly cost. Organisations see virtual presentations as an opportunity to save on the travel and accommodation expenses occasioned by everyone coming together in person in one place. So love them or hate them, virtual presentations are here to stay and bring with them some unique challenges for the presenter.

In this edition of the newsletter, we explore the nature of these challenges and provide you with some tips and recommendations to rise above them. Find out how important it is to have some “rules” in place to make life easier for the presenter and the listeners. Consider too the adaptations you have to make to your usual presentation style to engage the listeners and keep their attention focussed on the matter at hand. Our focus is on a “sound only” connection between the participants in the call and a screen share so that everyone can see the presenter’s slides.
